Progress Update #12 - Week 11 - 10/31/14




Week 11 Accomplishments:
  • Greens
    • #11 & #12 Green has been approved by Jason Straka
    • The installation of the Greens Soil Mix on #4 Green has begun and will be completed today (Friday)
  • Earthmoving / Shaping
    • Continues on #12 and has started on #13
  • Drainage installation Progress (completion %)
    • #1 = 30%  (Green Complex Complete) 
    • #2 = 100% 
    • #3 = 100%
    • #4 = 100%
    • #5 = 80%
    • #6 = 100%
    • #7 = 100%
    • #8 = 60%
    • #9 = 20% (Tee Complex Complete)
  • Clearing Plan 
    • Work is 90% complete on holes #12 & #13
    • Cartpath has been pulled up and is ready to be hauled offsite from a majority of hole #12 and half of #13.
  • Geotube
    • #8 Green  & #2 Tee Canal have been completed
  • Irrigation
    • The  main line on hole #4 has been installed and work will continue on #3.

Upcoming Week Goals:
  • Complete the rough shaping on #12.
  • Complete the greens drainage and gravel installation on hole #11 & #12.
  • Continue Earthmoving and Rough Shaping on hole #13.
  • Drainage Installation:
    • Install drainage on #11 
  • Continue Clearing Plan on hole #14, and #15.
  • Install Greens Soil Mix on holes #5 & #6

    The Look Ahead:


    The water main relocation on the fairway of hole #5 is tentatively scheduled to begin the latter part of this coming week or the week of November 10th. Sarasota County will notify any resident that may be inconvenienced several days prior to the work beginning. 

      Golf Course Architect, Jason Straka's next scheduled site visit: 

      1) November 4th - 6th
      2) November 13th - 14th 
      3) November 19th - 21st
      4) December 1st - 3rd



      Did you know:  

      The site for the 2017 US Open is at Erin Hills Golf Club, which is a Hurdzan/Fry Golf Course Design.

      Progress Update #11 - Week #10 - 10/24/2014




      Week 10 Accomplishments:
      • Greens 
        • Drainage and gravel installation is complete on #8.
        • #11 Green has been shaped and is ready for Jason Straka's approval
        • Greens Soil Mix on #3 Green has been started and should be completed early next week.
      • Earthmoving / Shaping
        • Work has begun on hole #11 and #12 
      • Drainage installation
        • General Course Drainage - work is complete on #7
      • Clearing Plan 
        • Work is 90% complete on holes #12 & #13
        • Cartpath has been pulled up and is ready to be hauled offsite from hole #12 and #13.
      • Geotube
        • #5 Green / #3 Tee Complex / #8 Green have been completed
      • Irrigation
        • The 8 inch main line for holes #3 and #4 have been fused and are ready to be installed. 

      Upcoming Week Goals:
      • Rough shape the green on #12.
      • Complete the greens drainage and gravel installation on hole #11.
      • Continue Earthmoving and Rough Shaping on hole #12.
      • Drainage Installation:
        • Install drainage on along #3 Tee, #2 Tee, and #1 Greens Complex
      • Continue Clearing Plan on hole #13, #14, and #15.

        Progress Update #10 - Week 9 - 10/17/2014




        Week 9 Accomplishments:
        • Greens
          • Contours on hole #5 have been approved by Jason Straka. 
          • Drainage and gravel installation is complete on #1 and started on #5.
        • Earthmoving / Shaping
          • Work continues on holes #5,  #7 and #8. 
          • The de-watering and excavation of the pond surrounding #5 green is complete. 
          • Roto-tilling is 80% complete on hole #11,  95% complete #12, and 55% complete on #13.
        • Drainage installation
          • General Course Drainage - #2 is complete / work continues on #7
        • Clearing Plan 
          • Hole #8 and #11 is complete.
          • All the old cartpath for holes #2 - #8 has been hauled off site to a recycle plant.
        • Geotube
          • #4 Green is complete.
        • Irrigation
          • Scheduled to start the week of October 20th. 

        Upcoming Week Goals:
        • Rough shape the green on #5.
        • Complete the greens drainage and gravel installation on hole #8.
        • Continue Earthmoving and Rough Shaping on hole #7 and #8.
        • Start Earthmoving and Shaping on holes #11 & #12
        • Drainage Installation:
          • Complete 85% on hole #7.
        • Continue Clearing Plan on hole #12, #13, #14, and #15.
        • Complete 50% of the Irrigation Installation on hole #3
          • Irrigation Design Consultant, Tony Altum, will be onsite on Monday to mark the irrigation system.

        The Look Ahead:
        • Contractor Construction Sequence - #11, #12, #13, #14, #15, #16, #17, #18, #10, #9 Greens Complex, #1 Tee Complex

          Golf Course Architect next scheduled site visit: 

          Tuesday, October 28th - Wednesday, October 29th


          Did you know:  

          There will be 140,000 square feet or 3.2 acres of putting surface. The greens turf will be TifEagle Certified Bermudagrass which will come from a Turf Farm out of Georgia.

          • Arrangements are being coordinated to start Member Course Tours starting in November. The dates and times are to be determined and space will be limited per tour. All tours will be with the Golf Course Architect, Jason Straka, and the Director of Green and Grounds, Nick Kearns.           Progress Update #9 - Week 8 - 10/10/2014




          Week 8 Accomplishments:
          • Greens
            • Contours on holes #1 and #2 have been approved by Jason Straka. 
            • Drainage and gravel installation is complete on #2.
          • Earthmoving / Shaping
            • Work continues on holes  #7, #2, #1 and has begun on #8. The greens complex on #8 is dropping by 1 - 2 feet and the earth from this area is being utilized to create a berm between the green area and MacEwen road.
            • The de-watering and excavation of the pond surrounding #5 green is now over half way complete. Anticipated to be complete in the next 3 - 4 days.
            • Roto-tilling has begun on hole #11 and #12.
          • Drainage installation
            • General Course Drainage - The tee area on #7 is complete. Work will continue down both property lines of the hole over the next 2 - 3 days. 
          • Clearing Plan 
            • Hole #8 is nearly complete and will be complete in the next day or two.
            • The cartpath at the tee on #9 and the greens complex on #1 have been removed.

          Upcoming Week Goals:
          • Rough shape the green on #5.
          • Complete the drainage and gravel installation on hole #1.
          • Continue Earthmoving and Rough Shaping on hole #8.
          • Start Earthmoving and Shaping on holes #11 & #12
          • Drainage Installation:
            • Start hole #2 fairway drainage.
          • Continue Clearing Plan on hole #8 and proceed to #11 and #12.

          The Look Ahead:
          • Geotube Installation:
            • Scheduled to start today (Friday, 10/10/14)
            • This process will begin on #4 greens complex pond bank
          • Irrigation Installation will start in the few weeks.

            Golf Course Architect next scheduled site visit: 

            Wednesday, October 15th - Friday, October 17th


            Did you know:  

            There will be 15,400 linear feet or 2.94 miles of 8 inch HDPE Irrigation Pipe installed on the course.

            Progress Update #8 - Week 7 - 10/3/14




            Week 7 Accomplishments:
            • Greens Complexes
              • Hole #2 Greens contours are close to being approved and will be ready for approvel during Jason Straka's next site visit. 
            • Earthmoving / Shaping
              • Work continues on holes #6, #7, #2 and has begun on #1
              • The de-watering and excavation of the pond surrounding #5 green will continue for the next 5 - 7 days.
            • Drainage installation
              • General Course Drainage - #3 and #6 is complete. #7 will start on Friday (10/3) and will continue over the next 7 days. The property boundaries will be the main focus while rough shaping continues on the fairway areas.
            • Clearing Plan 
              • Hole #2 is complete and work has started on #8
              • The Cartpath at the tee on #3, #2, #8, and the path around #1 green have been removed.

            Upcoming Week Goals:
            • Greens Contours on #2 and #1 to be ready for Jason's approval
            • Continue Earthmoving and Rough Shaping on holes #2, #5, #7, #8 and the Greens complex of hole #1.
            • Drainage Installation
              • Hole #7 Property Boundaries will be the main focus which will occur prior to shaping the entire golf hole.
              • Complete Greens drainage on #7 and start #2 following the contour approval.
            • Continue Clearing Plan on hole #8 and proceed to #1 and #9.

            The Look Ahead:
            • Geotube Installation:
              • Scheduled to begin the week of October 13th
              • #4 greens complex pond bank, left side of #3 tee complex pond bank, and #2 tee water canal bank will be the areas they will start.
            • In the next 1-2 weeks the contractor will begin rototilling and the earthwork phase on holes #13 - #15. 

            Golf Course Architect next scheduled site visit: 

            Wednesday, October 8th

            There will be over 16,000 linear feet or 3 miles of 6 inch ADS N-12 Drainage Pipe installed on the course.
