Progress Update - 9/26/15

• Erosion Repair Work:
• Areas that had erosion due to significant rainfall are currently being repaired. Several areas on the front 9 are complete and majority of those areas the turf that was installed was able to be reused. The contractor has a 5-6 man team assisting with the repair work. We are projecting the erosion repair work to be finished by the week of October 19th.
• Bridge Work:
• All the bridges have had new guard railings installed and the sides have been stained with a fresh coat of paint. The railings will not be stained brown in the future however we will plan on applying a sealer on a yearly basis
• Lakes on hole #5 & #14:
• Due to the disturbance of the earth to those two lakes in particular, we continue to battle algae. We are implementing an environmentally friendly dye to help shade the lake and block the sunlight from reaching the soil under the water. The aquatic maintenance team have also been treating the lakes and are now introducing a microbial treatment. 
• We are still optimistic that a majority of the cypress trees located on the 5 newly created islands will survive the environmental change that they have went through. In the event that a few may need to be replaced, 5 green buttonwoods have been installed as a potential replacement.  
• Additional aquatic plants are also being considered as they aide in filtrating the water and shade the soil similar to the dye. 

Did you know:

Before the renovation the square footage of the bunkers was 145,000 and the square footage on the newly renovated Heron is 103,000.

Progress Update #51 - Week 53 - 8/22/15

Week 53  

• The contractor continues to work on punch list tasks.
• Southeastern Golf will assist with erosion repair after they have completed their punch list task.
• The Green and Grounds team mowed #15 fairway for the first time since the grass installation
• The fairways, tees, and approaches on holes 3-8, 11-17 are being mowed on a routine basis.
• All the greens were topdressed and also aerated.
• This week we will begin to aerating the fairway on hole #3.

Did you know:

There were over 1,800 landscape plants installed on the berm that separates hole #18 from driving range.

Progress Update #50 - Week 52 - 8/14/15

Week 52 Accomplishments 

• Grassing = 100% Complete

• Bunker Construction = 100% Complete

Upcoming Week Goals:

• Contractor is to start the punch list 
• Start the construction of the Heron Putting green which is apart of the Member approved plan.

Did you know:

• The greens are grassed with TifEagle Bermudagrass
• The collars and chipping surrounds are grassed with TifGrand Bermudagrass
• The fairways, tees, and roughs are grassed with Celebration Bermudagrass
• There are several miscellaneous rough areas that are grassed with Argentine Bahiagrass

Progress Update #49 - Week 51 - 8/7/15

Week 51 Accomplishments 

• Grassing:
• Hole #1 - 95% complete
• Hole #9 - 100% complete
• Hole #2 - Sod has been laid around the tee complex and continues around the bunkers

• Bunker Construction:
• Hole #1 - 100% complete
• Hole #2 - 90% complete (sand installation will be completed on Saturday, August 8th)

Upcoming Week Goals:

• Grassing: 
• Hole #2 - complete the remaining grass installation by Wednesday, August 12th.

• Southeastern Golf will begin the punch-list that has been created by Jason Straka (Course Architect) and Joe Voss (Project Manager).

Did you know:

A year ago the 2nd grass eradication application was being applied to the course.

Progress Update #48 - Week 50 - 7/31/15

Week 50 Accomplishments 

• Grassing:
• Hole #1 - Sod is being laid around the lake banks and bunker edges
• Hole #9
•  Sod has around the lake edges and the fairway bunker edge
• Sprigging is scheduled to take place on 

• Bunker Construction:
• Hole #1
• Fairway & one of the green side bunkers are complete
• Hole #9
• Fairway Bunker is complete
• Hole #2
• The right-hand fairway bunkers are currently being shaped and prepared for drainage

Upcoming Week Goals:

• Grassing: 
• Hole #1
• Sprigging is tentatively scheduled for Monday, August 3rd 
• Hole #2
• Tentatively scheduled to be completely grassed by the end of the week. (WEATHER PERMITTING)

• Bunker Construction:
• Hole #2 - Complete all the bunkers on #2

Did you know:

For the month of July we've recorded a total of 12.62 inches as of 4:00 PM on July 31st. Half of that total has fallen in the last 7.5 days.

Progress Update #47 - Week 49 - 7/24/2015

Week 49 Accomplishments 

• Grassing:
• Hole #1 - Tee Complex is 100% grassed
• Hole #9
• Green Complex is 100% grassed
• Sod has been laid along a portion of the lake bank
• Hole #10 - 95% grassed
• Hole #11 - Tee Complex is 100% grassed

• Bunker Construction:
• Hole #9
• Fairway - 50% complete
• Hole #1
• Fairway bunker 40% complete
• Hole #10 - All bunkers are 100% complete
• Landscape Installation
• Additional Bougainvilleas have been planted between #1 tees and #9 Green Complex
• Ornamental Grasses have been planted on the back side of the left hand fairway and green-side  bunkers.
• Two large oaks trees have been planted near #10 green cartpath and #11 tee complex.

Upcoming Week Goals:

• Grassing: 
• Holes #1 - Sod and Sprig the all remaining areas
• (Goal by the end of the week is to be 100% complete) 
• Hole #9 - Sod and Sprig the fairway portion of the hole 
• (Goal by the end of the week is to be 100% complete)

• Bunker Construction:
• Complete Better Billy Bunker liner and sand installation on #9 Fairway, #1 Fairway, and #1 Green-side.

Look Ahead:

• The week of August 3rd:
• Complete the grassing on hole #2 (Final hole!).
• Start to complete the close-out punch list 
• The week of August 10th:
• Complete punch list items and begin to reduce construction staff and equipment.

Did you know:

The 1st phase of greens have been taken off the "grow-in" agronomic program and are now being maintained as if they are nearly ready for play. All greens are being mowed at the same height of cut and are being mowed at a minimum of 3 - 4 times a week.
